What does it mean to be a neighbor or to accept someone else as one’s neighbor? What does Jesus have to say about it? This year we’ll hear from Ministry Partners and begin to think not just about service but justice and transforming systems. Join us during our Sunday Forum, each week 9:30am-10:15am, from Sunday, January 12th, through Sunday, January 26th:
January 12th: J. Clinton McCann, Jr., is the evangelical professor of biblical interpretation at Eden Theological Seminary. Clint is a master interpreter of the Psalms and deeply interested in the Biblical mandate for justice. Clint will reflect with us on this mandate through the lens of the Psalms, the topic at the heart of his latest book; Reading the Psalms Again for the First Time: A Spirituality for Justice-Seekers and Peacemakers.
January 19th: Cynthia Changyit Levin is a mother, author, and non-partisan activist around issues of hunger and education, to name just two. Cynthia pioneered advocacy rooted in motherhood as she built relationships with public officials side-by-side with her two children from their toddler to teen years. We’ll learn why moms make great advocates and how to get started in advocacy, a story she shared in her first book, From Changing Diapers to Changing the World.
January 26th: Kary Bachert, member of the Rockwood Board of Education and chair of the district Advocacy Committee, established in 2024, to diligently monitor and communicate legislation that could impact the quality and condition of education and resources in the district. Kary will share the work Rockwood is doing and invite us to participate in this work, with details on how.
