Shrove Sunday Pancake Breakfast: Sun, Mar. 2, 11:30am
Shrove Tuesday immediately precedes Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. Shrove comes from shrive, meaning to confess sins as a preparation for Lent. Although the day is sometimes still used for self-examination and introspection, Shrove Tuesday eventually acquired the character of a celebration in many places. Pancakes are traditionally served because eggs, sugar, and fat, commonly forbidden during lenten fast, are used up so they will not go to waste.
Men’s Group will prepare; all are welcome to join for breakfast at 11:30am.
